SHAH ALAM - Bandar Tun Razak member of Parliament Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail is urging Malaysians to play their roles as agents of change in the community and society.
The Prime Minister's wife said awareness and assistance should be provided to help women who are in the fields of entrepreneurship, job search, psychosocial assistance and assistance of legal advice.
"We want to make sure that all levels of society, especially women, get appropriate assistance.
"What's more important is the awareness or willingness of each individual to get help, especially in cases involving security and lives such as domestic violence, abuse and mental health," she said at Karangkraf headquaters today.
Wan Azizah said this after officiating the launch of the book 'Pesona Personaliti' written by Muna Izzah Fadzil.
The book launching was also attended by Karangkraf Media Group founder Datuk Hussamuddin Yaacub and Chief Executive Officer of Group Buku Karangkraf Firdaus Hussamuddin.
Commenting on the book which highlights personality, Wan Azizah stressed that strength of personality was crucial towards one's self development.
Therefore, she urged writers to raise their standards of writing to educate and foster moral values within the community.
"The simple and practical examples included in this book can also be used as a guide according to the context and situation of the readers later.
Wan Azizah added that everyone should re-apply the culture of reading and appreciating knowledge, especially among family members, children, by encouraging them to read and utilise technology to gain knowledge.
"The book launching is right on it's time to look at the bigger agenda in relation to women.
"We just celebrated Women's Day. Aspects on women's development and empowerment is one of the country's main agendas.
"I believe we all have the same desire and determination, so that the women in Malaysia are always protected, empowered and able to contribute to national development with their full potential."
