GUA MUSANG - Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah or Ku Li's political aura has yet to be 'extinguished' as he easily won the Gua Musang division chief post.
In Umno Gua Musang election, Ku Li obtained 453 votes leaving his two challengers Che Mohd Izani Che Musa and Datuk Saari Lembut far behind.
Che Mohd Izani got 46 votes while Saari only received five votes.
This is the second time Ku Li was challenged since he led the Umno Gua Musang division for 64 years.
In 2013, Ku Li was challenged by former Youth chief Datuk Bazlan Baharuddin
With this victory, Ku Li has managed to defend his position and becomes the Umno division chief who has served the party at the division level for the longest time.
Umno Gua Musang deputy chief Mohd Syahbuddin Hasyim confirmed the win when contacted.
He said the victory shows that Ku Li is still relevant in leading the Umno Gua Musang division.
