PUTRAJAYA - The Health Ministry and the Public Service Department have discussed the issue of unpaid medical officers following the extension of operating hours in health clinics.
Health Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa said the matter was of a concern for her.
"We are thoroughly observing and looking into the complaints," she said when met by reporters after officiating the tropical infectious diseases conference here on Tuesday.
A screenshot went viral on Saturday regarding the claims of medical officers not being paid for their extended work time after the ministry extended health clinic operation times.
Zaliha on Sunday encouraged the participation of private general practitioner (GP) clinics and contract doctors to cooperate together for the initiative in extending operating hours to be successful.
However, the contract doctor movement (HDK) had asked for the Health Ministry to explain whether the government will offer appropriate remuneration for GPs and contract doctors for that purpose.
