KUALA PILAH - The wife of former Jempol member of parliament (MP) Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad has won the Kuala Pilah Umno Wanita chief post in the party's election yesterday.
Puan Sri Bibi Sharliza Mohd Khalid had defeated her challengers, namely Suzlyana Mahayuddin and June Artisha Mohamad Nazari.
Bibi Sharliza, when contacted by Sinar Harian, said that she will carry out the duties entrusted to her with full dedication for the sake of religion, race, and country.
"I admit that it was a very challenging competition because I was fighting against the incumbent Wanita Umno division chief and also the Puteri Umno chief, whereas I was only a member at the branch level.
"It can't be denied that they have their own strengths," said the Pekan Lama Umno Wanita branch chief today.
Bibi Sharliza, who has 21 years of experience in politics, said her main focus is to prepare for the state election and to consider the changes that Wanita Umno needs.
"I believe that Wanita Umno needs to make changes and move more efficiently in facing the state election, for example, by collecting data on how to gain votes and get along with the people, as well as improving our approach on social media platforms.
"In my opinion, Wanita Umno should not remain in the old ways. Even women in society now use social media to speak up about women's issues and are getting international response.
"Therefore, if we can play this role, then I am sure the people will trust Umno more," she said.
