KUALA LUMPUR - Tan Sri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil is leading in the race for Umno Wanita seat.
Unofficial results as of 4.40pm shows Shahrizat is leading by three votes out of a total of 347.
For the Umno Wanita wing two candidates contested for the permanent chairman position, deputy permanent chairman (4), Umno Wanita chief (2), Umno Wanita deputy chief (2) and 61 for the exco posts.
The highlights of the competition were the competition for Umno Wanita chief that witnessed its incumbent Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad challenged by Shahrizat who decided to come back after stepping down in 2018.
Umno Puteri deputy chief Nurul Amal Mohd Fauzi is currently leading against five others for the Umno Puteri chief post.
For the Umno Puteri movement two candidates offered themselves for the permanent chairman post, two for deputy permanent chairman, six for the chief, three for deputy chief and 42 candidates for the exco posts.
The 2023/2026 session Umno election began today with the voting process nationwide.
Representatives will vote to choose the best candidate to uplift Umno Wanita, Youth and Puteri wings today. The Umno supreme council seat and the vice presidents winners will be announced on March 18.
