KUALA LUMPUR - Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled to launch the National Tahfiz Education Policy (DPTN) 2.0 at the 23K huffaz (memorisers of the Quran) gathering at the Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory Mosque, tomorrow.
Programme advisor Datuk Dr Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali said the three-day programme that kicked off today aimed at reviving DPTN, adding that the gathering will also be attended by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
He said this when appearing as a guest on Bernama TV’s Ruang Bicara programme tonight.
On Jan 30, Ahmad Zahid said DPTN 2.0 was scheduled to be launched on March 11 adding that through the policy the government wanted to make sure that the huffaz do not only work as imams, teachers or in the related fields, instead it wants to create professional careers for them.
Khairuddin said the launch was important to show that the huffaz and national education cannot be separated.
Launched in 2016, he said it was time to revitalize and expand the policy.
A total of 23,000 huffaz from all over the country will gather at the mosque tomorrow to recite the whole Quran 1,000 times before the launch, he added.
This fourth edition of the huffaz gathering is hosted by the Association of Tahfiz Al-Quran Kebangsaan Institutions (PINTA) in collaboration with the Deputy Prime Minister's Office.- BERNAMA
