GUA MUSANG - A teenager died after the motorcycle he was riding hit a cow at Kilometer 35 of Jalan Gua Musang-Kuala Krai, here, yesterday.
In the 9.35pm incident, the victim Mohd Adam Haikal Mohd Asri, 16, who was riding a Y15 ZR motorcycle had hit a cow that was passing by the road.
Gua Musang District police chief Superintendent Sik Choon Foo said the victim was helped by the public and was taken to the Chiku 3 Health Clinic.
"However, the victim was pronounced dead while receiving treatment at 9.55pm.
"His remains was taken to Gua Musang Hospital for an autopsy," he said in a statement today.
He said the case was investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987.
Sik also reminded farmers to not let their animals outside of the farm at night as it poses danger to road users.
"Farmers who let the animals roam around the roads and residential areas can be prosecuted by Veterinary Services Department in accordance to Buffalo and Cow Control Enactment 2001.
"Meanwhile, for road accident cases, action will be taken according to APJ 1987 and Section 289 of the Penal Code," he added.
