SHAH ALAM - GrabFood Malaysia is updating its delivery options to make it more affordable and accessible to Malaysians. This includes expanding the Saver Delivery option to more cities nationwide beginning today, giving consumers across the country a lower delivery fee option.
Grab Malaysia Commercial and Deliveries director Jiong Jian Tan said in the current climate, the company believes that it is critical to continuously improve its services, making it even more affordable while catering to consumers' diverse needs.
In addition to having the widest range of restaurants that Malaysians enjoy, he said the Saver Delivery now allows it to offer its lowest delivery fee option nationwide.
"With hope that with these enhancements, we are able to serve even more Malaysians across the country and bring them accessible convenience that suits their lifestyle," he added.
He said the Saver Delivery, which was first piloted in November 2022, is a service that allows users to pay delivery fees as low as RM1 ($0.22) on the widest range of restaurants on GrabFood in exchange for a slightly longer delivery time.
This, he said, is accomplished by grouping orders that will be delivered in the same direction a delivery partner will travel.
"Therefore, depending on several factors such as order time and location, the option is only available from eligible merchant-partners,” Tan said. "The delivery partners assigned to these orders will be compensated in the same way as other delivery options,” he said.
Meanwhile, Tan said the introduction of Direct Delivery in the revamped delivery options coincides with the expansion of Saver Delivery, which provides a shorter delivery time for consumers who are in a hurry to receive their orders.
Along with these new options, features such as the ability to schedule orders and choose self-pick-up aim to provide consumers with a variety of convenient ways to get their meals, he added.
He said by making food delivery more accessible to consumers and catering to a wide range of eaters, the revamped delivery options will benefit both GrabFood’s delivery and merchant partners by providing additional revenue opportunities.
"We are committed to continue enhancing our service to provide value-added solutions to all stakeholders in the ecosystem who rely on the platform.
"Through this, we hope to ensure we are able to safeguard its sustainability, continuing to provide affordable convenience to consumers and as a source of earning for merchants and delivery partners," Tan said.
