SHAH ALAM - Parti Barisan Jemaah Islamiah Se-Malaysia (Berjasa) is prepared to work with any party fighting to develop Malaysia into a superior and dignified country.
Its secretary-general, Zulkifli Yahya, said its stand was consistent prior to the 15th general election (GE15) and will remain in line with the party’s principles as well as mature political ethics.
He said the nation’s politics have an interesting storyline post-GE15, when there was a need to form a coalition to establish a new government.
"This was followed with the decision of Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang) leaving Gerakan Tanah Air (GTA) to join Perikatan Nasional (PN)," he said in a statement to Sinar Harian on Saturday.
PN Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Takiyuddin was reported as saying that there were two applications from political parties to join PN, namely Pejuang and Berjasa.
However, he said no decisions have been made so far on which party will be accepted to join the coalition, as the meeting dates are not yet known.
Zulkifli said the formation of the new cooperation was highly anticipated by political observers as tensions are expected with state polls happening soon.
He welcomed Takiyuddin’s statement that with PN accepting both parties, it will be a new and postive direction for PN in the country's political stage
