KUALA LUMPUR - The Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah granted an audience to the Ruler’s Representative of Al Dhafra Region, United Arab Emirates (UAE) and UAE Red Crescent chairman Sheikh Hamdan Zayed Al Nahyan at Emirates Palace Hotel, Abu Dhabi yesterday.
Also present in the meeting at 6.30 pm local time (10.30 pm Malaysian time) was the Malaysian Ambassador to UAE Datuk Seri Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin.
According to a post on the Istana Negara Facebook page today, His Majesty expressed his appreciation for the cooperation and assistance provided by the UAE government and the UAE Red Crescent Society in delivering the Malaysian government's contribution of 40 tonnes of humanitarian aid in Syria in the meeting.
Besides that, the two leaders also touched on the cordial bilateral relations between Malaysia and the UAE as well as potential areas of cooperation that the two countries can explore.
Al-Sultan Abdullah is in the UAE for a seven-day special visit starting Feb 24.
The Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandaria also accompanied Al-Sultan Abdullah on the visit. - BERNAMA
