IPOH - The Tambun Parliamentary Community Service Centre will offer free health screening to the local community in the constituency area at the end of each month.
Special officer to Tambun Member of Parliament, Mohamad Hairul Amir Sabri, said the programme was organised to assist the B40 group in receiving free health care.
"As we know, it is expensive to get a health check. By holding such a programme, we can help the people in need as Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim (Tambun MP) is very concerned over the people’s health, education and economic situation.
"It will be extended to the village areas at the end of the month to allow the group to have access to health care, " he said when met at the health screening programme held in Meru Bestari here today.
The initiative by the Tambun Parliamentary Community Service Centre today was the second series after Ulu Kinta last month.
S.Kuttusamy, 70, who rode his motorcycle for 15 kilometres (km) from Tanjung Rambutan said he was excited about this because if he were to have it elsewhere, it can be expensive.
"I will also have to wait for a long time. Here, it can be done within 10 to 15 minutes.
"I am thankful for this initiative as an electrocardiogram test can be done to check on my kidney health, hypertension and more,” he said.
Eshamzuraiza Shamsuddin, 52, was very pleased with the services provided.
"Here, the health checks such as ultrasound, ECG and so forth are thorough which if done at the private clinic can be costly.
Kelly Ong, 49, was glad as she and her husband get their health checks for free. - BERNAMA
