SHAH ALAM - Suspended Umno deputy youth chief Shahril Hamdan says he looks forward to co-host an exclusive podcast series called "The Has-Beens" with Sinar Daily, next month.
The 10-episode podcast series will feature political leaders who have been sacked or removed from political parties.
Shahril said he was excited to explore the new methods of engaging the public on issues that matter.
"It will be doubly exciting to be doing so, not simply as someone answering questions, as previously was the case, but as a podcast co-host, as someone who can help frame the discussion as well.
"I don't have experience on this side of the media, but I'm happy to learn, and I'm sure I'll be suitably guided by the good people at Sinar Daily," he said.
He said as he had indicated in the immediate aftermath of his supension by the party, he will likely return to active party politics at some point.
"But while I'm out, I want to make the best use of the time to do other things, contribute in other ways, develop new areas of expertise, and learn from others while continuing to engage the public.
"The podcast with KJ (former Umno youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin) and this one with Sinar Daily is just one part of that larger puzzle I've laid out for myself," he added.
He said he will share more information about his other particular post-suspension plans as they became more specific.
For now, he said those plans will take the form of a portfolio approach.
Shahril said he hoped that the podcasts would be able to find broad audiences who wished to talk about and discuss serious issues, but in a relatable way.
The series will also feature politicians who had lost in the recent general elections, politicians from all political divides regardless of their political stand and view.
The guests will also talk about current issues, issues affecting the nation, political crises, and government policies.
This genuine, unfiltered discussion between those who once inspired, and hope to inspire the future generation will be available on all Sinar Daily digital platforms soon.
