SHAH ALAM - Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and the Integrity Institute of Malaysia (IIM) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) to boost integrity and governance at all levels.
The MoU established a strategic cooperation covering the fields of training, education, research, publishing and advocacy programmes focused on integrity and governance. The MoA on the other hand sealed the implementation of an Integrity Leadership Professional Certificate (SPKI) Module which is offered for the first time by both parties jointly.
The first session of the module will begin in mid-2023 and will be offered to participants in both the public and private sectors. The development of SPKI which is the first step to producing more training modules, joint research and publication, is also considered as a proactive step by both parties to emphasise more focus on the education of integrity.
Both memorandums were said to be in line with IIM's commitment and efforts with UKM in strengthening the culture and practice of integrity and best governance at all levels and layers of society especially in the public and private sectors as well as the community.
IIM CEO Datuk Wan Suraya Wan Mohd Radzi who represented the body to sign the documents said, "With the signing of these MoU and MoA, I am sure and believe that it will show the commitment of many parties about the importance of practicing a culture of integrity and best governance in an organisation.
"It is also in line with IIM's role to help strengthen the capacity and competence of integrity and governance of the public and private sectors through advocacy, training, consultancy products and integrity assessments. In fact, cooperation with educational institutions such as UKM will add value to the credibility of IIM in ensuring that efforts to honour integrity and governance in the country will grow more fruitfully," she added.
Meanwhile, UKM representative, its vice chancellor Prof Dato' Gs Ts Dr Mohd Ekhwan Toriman said that SPKI programme aims to provide theoretical and practical understanding to mobilise the culture and practice of ethics and integrity in an organisation by implementing the best organisational governance and internal control system to prevent dishonest conduct, corruption and abuse of power.
Concurrently, there was also a launch of the book 'Mohd Zuki Ali: Amanat Integriti Dan Governans' by State chief secretary (KSN) Tan Sri Dato' Seri Mohd Zuki bin Ali who is also IIM chairman and UKM pro chancellor. The book is a collaboration between IIM and the National Institute of Public Administration (INTAN).
