SHAH ALAM - The 10th Prime Minister (PMX) Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has been urged to implement the six Rasuah Buster notes wanted by the people to ensure he leaves a legacy in his administration.
Rasuah Busters team chief Datuk Hussamuddin Yaacub said the Tambun MP would surely want to leave a legacy of his administration after finally succeeding to lead the country.
"If we look at history, Anwar fought for 24 years for his role as PMX, so he must cherish it and leave a legacy.
"I am confident he will implement the six Rasuah Busters notes because he has the power and what he wants would surely come (true).” he said during a press conference of the Rasuah Busters 'notes to the PMX' programme aired live on Sinar Harian’s Facebook and Astro Awani on Wednesday.
Hussamuddin along with five other Rasuah Busters partners and experts expressed their hope that the notes, which covers several areas of reformation in the system will be given attenton and the appropriate action will be taken by Anwar and his administration.
The notes include demands for the implementation of the separation of powers of the attorney-general and the public prosecutor, speeding up the amendment of the Whistleblower Protection Act 2010, and the requirements for the political funding act.
The note demanded a thorough transformation of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), independence of the judiciary through the Judicial Commission Act 2009 and the full implementation of the National Anti-Corruption Plan (NACP) and value reforms as the core of national development.
Hussamuddin added that corruption has affected the nation and if kept unchecked through transformation as suggested, it can bring ruin to the country.
He said as Malaysia comes close to its 66th year of independence, it must strive to be free of kleptocracy, and the country’s transformation should move with its age of independence.
"Any element that slows down the progress and tarnishes the independence of this nation must be stopped immediately for the sake of justice, there is no favouritism, no selective prosecution.
"Conduct a whole a system reform as this is the cure for the country to recover and be clean from corruption,” he said.
