Eight Pahang SPM students take exams from hospital

KUANTAN - Despite being involved in road accidents, eight students will be sitting for their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) 2022 examination in hospital.

Pahang State Education Department director Mohammad Rosli Abdul Rahman said the students were currently getting treatment at Hospital Tengku Ampuan Afzan (HTAA), Kuantan: Hospital Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah (HoSHAS), Temerloh and Hospital Lipis due to road accidents.

About 20,000 candidates will be sitting for examination in the state.

He said all other candidates took the exam at 263 examination centers including 197 schools (17,573 candidates), 34 private centres (725 candidates), 18 Sekolah Menengah Agama Negeri (SMAN) (1,465 candidates), six Mara Junior Science Colleges (MRSM) (773 candidates), four private centres (224 candidates) and Sekolah Menengah Agama Rakyat (SMAR) (90 candidates).

There were 620 Orang Asli candidates and 116 special needs candidates.

He further said a total of 1,924 officers were appointed, consisting of invigilators (75), chief examination officers (262) and chief examination officers at hospitals (11).

"They are assisted by assistant examination officers (262), assistant examination officers at hospitals (11), examination officers (1,244), examination officers at hospitals (15) and reserve examination officers (44)," he said.

He said this when met after observing the examination process at SMK Tengku Panglima Perang Tengku Muhammad in Indera Mahkota here, today.

12,907 SPM candidates in Melaka

Meanwhile, a total of 12,907 SPM candidates sat for the exam at 102 exam centres in Melaka starting today.

Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md. Ali said there were two candidates who had to sit for the exam in hospital due to health problems.

He said there were 11,037 candidates from the government schools, government-aided schools and religious government-aided schools.

There are 649 students from Mara Junior Science Colleges (MRSM), 23 candidates from the state religious school, 221 candidates from registered private schools and 942 private candidates, he added.

He said this while observing the examination atmosphere at Sekolah Menengah Bukit Baru in Bukit Beruang here today.

He added a total of 1,235 officers were appointed to ensure the examination run smoothly until next March 15.
