KIRIKHAN - Belgium medical team is among the European countries that provide medical aid to Turkey after the earthquake tragedy last Feb 6.

A Belgian doctor who declined to be named or photographed said the disaster's field hospital was built in an open area near the Kirikhan State Hospital.

He said this is because some hospitals have been damaged and are unable to accommodate the large number of patients after the earthquake.

"Today is the tenth day since the establishment of the field hospital, and we have treated 108 patients who were injured as a result of the earthquake here.

"We brought several doctors who are experts in their respective fields," he told Sinar Harian.

Based on my observations here, this hospital has the same equipment as a hospital, including 20 beds.

There were also eight resuscitation beds to accommodate very critical cases.

This field hospital was also sponsored by the European Union.

Sinar Harian, Syria Care, and Task Emergency Medical Service (TEMS) are currently in Turkey on a mission to distribute aid to earthquake victims, including those in Syria.

Two days ago, Pas President Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang claimed that European countries did not show efforts to help Turkey which was hit by the recent earthquake, instead willing to spend billions of dollars on the war in Ukraine.

He said European countries are more inclined to help Ukraine, which is at war with Russia, simply to defend their position.
