Zafrul ready to testify to MACC on Jana Wibawa, says nothing to hide

SHAH ALAM - International Trade and Industries Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Aziz says he will give his full cooperation to anti-graft agency if called over probe into Covid-19 aid.

The aid was during Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin's administration.

"I have nothing to hide and I am ready to testify if asked to do so," he said in a brief Facebook post on Jana Wibawa.

The Jana Wibawa for Bumiputera contractors was introduced to aid and spur economic recovery of Bumiputeras post Covid-19 pandemic in the construction sector.

On Feb 15, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had said the government has decision to postpone RM5.7 billion worth of rural development projects under the Jana Wibawa scheme.

The move was to review if the procurement processes.

Yesterday, Muhyiddin confirmed that he had been summoned by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to record his statement regarding the Jana Wibawa project.

According to the Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman, he was called up by MACC to give his statement and not as a suspect on the awarding of the project to selected contractors.

Muhyiddin had said the Jana Wibawa project was proposed by the then finance minister, Zafrul.
