KUALA TERENGGANU - The Terengganu State Legislative Assembly (DUN) is expected to end its term before July, to make way for the state elections.

"We will wait, if necessary, until the end of the term since there is no need for us to rush into it."

He said this after attending the 2022 Yayasan Terengganu Gold Medal Award Ceremony & Malaysian Certificate of Education (SPM), Malaysian Higher School Certificate (STPM) & Malaysian Higher Religious Certificate (STAM) 2021 and Terengganu Masters Awards 2020 & 2021 at Taman Tamadun Islam (TTI) on Sunday.

Commenting on the decision to hold the state elections simultaneously with the other states that have yet to dissolve their state assemblies, he said discussions are currently being held to facilitate all parties.

Ahmad Samsuri said he had met with one of the MB's in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday and they had came to an agreement that the leaders of the six states namely Terengganu, Kedah, Kelantan, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and Penang should hold a meeting to discuss the matter

"It is a coincidence that we are all in Kuala Lumpur for the Conference of Rulers which will start Monday to Thursday, so we will try to find a suitable time for the meeting.

"Rather than the dissolution of the states that can happen on various dates, it is more important to meet with the Election Commission to pick the most suitable date for the state elections ," he said.
