KUALA LUMPUR - Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim says the statement made by Penang Deputy Chief Minister II P Ramasamy was a personal view, not DAP's opinion.

"That is a personal view; if we must consider it, we will, but what he (Ramasamy) said was not DAP's or the government’s view.

"Because of the current situation, I don’t see this as a problem, but we must not prevent individuals from speaking and giving their views," he said after launching the Housewives Social Security Scheme and the 2023 MyFutureJobs held here on Saturday.

He also said that he doesn't see the dominance of the Malay race in the civil service as a cause for concern.

In response to the statement made by Penang Deputy Chief Minister II P Ramasamy, Anwar said Ramasamy's "concerns" were not properly raised.

He explained if such matters must be considered, it should have been done by the government.

It was reported that Ramasamy has urged Anwar to reform the civil service, saying the sector is currently dominated by the Malays due to what he said were policies implemented by former leader Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

He said the old argument in favour of the Malays to balance the economic dominance of the Chinese is no longer applicable.

Dr Mahathir used this to institutionalise Malay hegemony in the public sector especially public services, Ramasamy added.

He claimed there were discriminations among the races in secret when it relates to the prospect of non-Malays being promoted in the public sector.
