KUALA LUMPUR - "It wouldn’t be publicised if it’s not true,” Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim claps back at Perikatan Nasional chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin over the National Integrated Immigration System (NIISe) project.
He said this in response to Muhyiddin’s denial that the NIISe project was award to IRIS Corporation Berhad, linked to his son-in-law.
Muhyiddin was quoted saying that it was all fabricated and slander.
Anwar said how far involved the former prime minister was in on the project would be reflected in the final investigation report.
"Bad or not, we wait for the report. The truth is there.
"How far involved he is in, I do not know. That is why the investigation has to be done,” he said at the MYFutureJobs Career Carnival 2023 today.
Muhyiddin, on Friday, has denied allegations linked to a lucrative contract said to have been awarded to his son-in-law following reports that the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission was investigating the matter.
"I strongly deny this. This is a malicious lie created to smear my image and that of my family,” he had said in a statement.
He had also said that the awarding of the contract was done in accordance with the government’s standard procedures and it was supervised by the finance ministry and other relevant ministries.
He also believed that the claim was part of a series of allegations being made by the current unity government.
