SEREMBAN - Malaysia will continue supporting Palestinian refugees in the country despite experiencing financial instabilities.
Agriculture and Food Security Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu said the country has always supported the Palestinians and its struggles from the era of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad until today with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
"For the Palestinian refugees in Malaysia, we are trying to support them as much as we can, we also have a financial problems but we will continue to support them,” he he told media members at International Conference on Palestine Kuala Lumpur 2023 (ICPKL) here today.
Mohamad, who is fondly known as Mat Sabu, also highlighted that more European countries were voicing their support Palestine as opposed to the Arab nations.
The Kota Raja MP said the western countries were know more aware of the struggles of the Palestinian people, insisting that the fight must continue.
"Arab countries sometimes do not have political freedom and may not get accurate information.
"That's why we see in European parliaments, there are members of parliament who dare to criticise (the Israelis) because they see what Israel is doing to the Palestinian community,” he said.
He added that the world powers were not shifting from the west to now the east namely China.
"However, they (China) is supporting Israel unlike the western countries support,” he claimed.
ICPKL aims at creating awareness on the injustice against Palestinians in Israeli prisons by the Israeli occupying forces.
The he purpose of the conference was to reveal more truths about what was happening in Palestine, including the history of the colonisation of the land by Zionists.
ICPKL is held at the the Royal Chulan Hotel in Seremban from Feb 10 to 12.
