SEREMBAN - Negeri Sembilan Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) is ready to offer the state's Menteri Besar (MB) position to former Rembau member of parliament Khairy Jamaluddin.
Its president Datuk Eddin Syazlee Shith said this was if Khairy was open to compete in the upcoming state elections under Bersatu's ticket.
Eddin said the matter of who will be MB was a small affair and that securing Bersatu and Perikatan Nasional's (PN)'s victory was much more important.
'If KJ (Khairy) joins Bersatu and competes in the Negeri Sembilan state elections then we have no issue to offer him the Menteri Besar seat.
'"It is a small affair to me because it is more crucial that we ensure victory, and anyone who thinks that they have the value and is fit for President then he can be MB. We will leave it to the leadership," he said when contacted by Sinar on Friday.
He also admitted that the former Umno youth chief can add significant value to Bersatu if he joins the party, as everyone is aware of Khairy's strength as a leader.
"Up until today, we still don't know his actual status (after he was sacked from Umno)," he said.
Eddin who is also Negeri Sembilan Perikatan Nasional chairman, said that PN or Bersatu has not held any official meetings with Khairy until today.
He added that he will leave it to the party's leadership to discuss with KJ.
"It is feared that many things won't match if many people attend the meeting.
"So we leave it to the leadership and we will follow any instructions," he said.
Previously Sinar reported that Khairy had expressed his interest to contest in the Selangor state election and claimed he received several offers including the position of MB if he won.
But he did not reveal the political party that made such offer.
However, Selangor Bersatu Deputy Chairman Datuk Zulkafperi Hanapi said Selangor Bersatu did not invite Khairy to be a candidate or offered him the position.
"I don’t know if the party's top leadership has offered (to Khairy), but at the Selangor (Bersatu) level, there is no such offer," he said.
