KOTA BHARU - Pas vice-president Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah's statement, which claimed that Umno is seeking more seats, is completely baseless.

"There was never an official negotiation between BN and Kelantan Pas about the seat allocation in the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) when both parties were in Muafakat Nasional (MN).

"This is a baseless claim as we never negotiated on this," he said when contacted by Sinar today.

His comments followed Mohd Amar's statement, which predicted the Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) coalitions would face conflict while negotiating the seat allocation for the upcoming state election.

The Kelantan Deputy Menteri Besar said from past experience working with Umno, the party had always wanted more seats.

Nor Hariri said only two meetings were officially held throughout the MN collaboration.

He said the meetings were about appointing the chairman of the Rural Development Authority to show the cooperation of the three coalition parties in the Perikatan Nasional government at that time, which were Pas, Umno, and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu).

However, it didn't happen as the initial approval for the appointment had changed to only appointing committee members.

"Since the beginnning, Mohd Amar, who was the chairman of the meeting then, did not respect the decision made. He was traitorous and greedy," he said.

Nor Hariri added that he is confident the negotiations between Umno and PH will proceed smoothly and in an orderly manner.

"Unlike negotiations with Pas representatives at the center, where they don't practise what they preach.

"Always changing according to their interest. It does not reflect the concept of negotiation in Islam," he said.
