SHAH ALAM - Anti-corruption activist and former senator Tunku Abdul Aziz Ibrahim has died. He was 89.
His nephew, Tengku Azman Tengku Zainal Abidin confirmed this on an Instagram post earlier.
"Al Fatihah to my uncle, Tunku Abdul Aziz, who has just breathed his last. May his soul be blessed."
Tunku Aziz was a DAP vice chairman before quitting the party in 2012. He is also said to be the party's loudest critic.
He was also the founding member of Transparency International Malaysia (TI-M), serving as its chairman until Oct 2022.
From Feb 2006 to Jan 2007, Tunku Aziz worked as a special advisor to Kofi Annan, who was the secretary-general of the UN at the time.
