PUTRAJAYA - Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said he has put aside any old feuds to work together in uplifting the Malaysia Madani concept.
According to Anwar, despite a history of conflicts, especially with Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamid, cooperation can be achieved through the unity of the same beliefs and determination of all administrative members.
"From my personal viewpoint, eventhough my team comes from different backgrounds there is a similar belief and determination.
"And although my relationship with my deputy minister has been rocky in the past, we too have the same belief and determination." he said in his speech during a meeting with the Prime MInister's Department (JPM) staff members today.
Anwar added that success of an administration is not only dependent on political figures, but also the strength and determination from all civil servants.
"That is why, for every meeting with the civil servants, I told them success is not determined solely from political figures, but success also comes from the committment of all civil servants, in achieving the vision of Madani Malaysia.
On another matter, Anwar had no intention to introduce a new slogan during his administration.
"I don't want us to be mesmerized by slogans," he said
According to him, the 'Paradigm Shift' slogan that was introduced by the previous government was merely a slogan.
"The sound is powerful and there is a shift, but not enough of a paradigm. (So) It is not enough to convince us.
"There is a slogan on a vision and Islam Hadari that I do not want to dispute," he said.
Anwar said, all ministries and agencies should work together to free the people from the shackles of the past
"Will I see success in a few months? Yes, I can't deny it. All of our meetings and policies that we want to put in place shows our earnest efforts. Whether it's the issue of foreign workers, some other policies, solving floods problems or yesterday (Monday)'s decision to send the Malaysian Special Search and Rescue Team (SMART) to Turkey, I see the desire from good friends, leaders and civil servants to take responsibilities and quick measures," he said.
