Legendary star Julie Sudiro dies

KUALA LUMPUR - Legendary star, Datin Paduka Julie Sudiro took her last breath at the age of 77 due to a lung infection.

The news of the famous jazz singer's passing was shared by her son Rindra Soliano to Awani on Saturday.

Allahyarhamah Julie passed away at the Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Hospital in Puncak Alam.

On Jan 9, Awani reported that the songstress was put to sleep at the hospital due to lung iisues,

Awani is currently trying to get further information on details of her burial.

Julie was no stranger to the nation's entertainment scene and was known for her popular classic song titled, 'Burong Nuri' which was recorded with the late Ahmad Mahmud and keroncong singer, Kartina Dahari.

Julie or her real name Raden Juariah Raden Sudiro was born on Feb 26 1945 in Segamat, Johor Bahru and was raised in Singapore.

She is blessed with two sons Rindra and Jose Irmanto from her marriage to her late husband, Tony Soliano who was a skilled jazz musician.

In 2006, she received the title of Datin Paduka from the Sultan of Johor at the time, the late Sultan Mahmud Iskandar Al-Haj. - AWANI
