KUALA LUMPUR - Suspended Umno Deputy Youth Chief Shahril Hamdan thinks party president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is not a "great president" for the Malay party.
In an episode of Sinar Daily's Politically Frank, he simply answered "no" when asked if Zahid makes a good and great president.
Meanwhile, Shahril was asked if Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki had lived up to his standards as the Umno Youth Chief.
Despite not answering a simple yes or no, he said the person should be judged based on their performance results.
"I think one should be judged based on the result and the result is based on themselves," he said.
Shahril was among the 42 Umno members who were suspended for six years after the Umno supreme council meeting on Jan 27 (Friday).
Shahril’s suspension got attention from Former Umno Youth Chief Khairy Jamaludin, who said his successor Shahril Hamdan's suspension from Umno was "for nothing."
In an Instagram story on Jan 29 (Tuesday), Khairy posted a selfie with Shahril: "This guy should have been the next Umno youth chief. But he was suspended without due process. For nothing."
Earlier, Shahril Hamdan announced his resignation in a Facebook post on Nov 20 (Tuesday).
"True, there is a concept of "collective responsibility" in failure. True, Umno needs to consider the next step in a situation where no party reaches the figure of 112 in GE15. True, this decision is huge and needs to be made by the Supreme Working Council, not just any individual or group.” he wrote.
