KUALA LUMPUR - Former Umno information chief Shahril Hamdan says it is high time to restructure the way of projecting the Malays' struggle, it has to be more progressive and interactive.
"I’m somebody who subscribes to the progressive and moderate way of coveying race based issues. Such issues are sensitive and needs great care when speaking about it.
"In fact, the same people who chose me for being ‘Pro-Pas’, which is always curious, were the same people who said our (Umno) struggles were too liberal. That’s something that I was not comfortable with" Shahril told Sinar Daily's Politically Frank.
Shahril stated that it’s time for the rakyat to find a more progressive and interactive way of speaking about the Malays' struggle.
"We need to talk from different angles. Not just on Malays rights, different religions; these are the issues that people have said since 30 years ago, we need to be more futuristic.
Shahril was among the 42 Umno members who were suspended for six years after the Umno supreme council meeting on Jan 27 (Friday).
