SHAH ALAM - The government will look into the issue of talent mismatch in technical and vocational education and training (TVET) programmes.

To do this, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said the government plans to engage with businessmen and industry players.

"This is part of the plan to address the issue. The cabinet committee chaired by Deputy Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi will identify some of these private companies to address this mismatch issue, or to identify industries that do not require practical training.

"We will ask Petronas to train and manage graduates to meet the needs. We also have DRB-Hicom for the automobile industry or Berjaya for the hospitality and tourism sectors," he said at a press conference today.

Anwar further added that this is crucial to solve the mismatch of skills and expertise, which is not required by industries.

He also said that the government would provide further details on the plans during a parliamentary meeting this month.
