PUTRAJAYA - The unity government will not interfere with the investigations conducted by the police and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission's (MACC) on a certain political party.
Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim described the allegations by certain parties that the government was interfering with investigations was irresponsible.
"We won't repeat the same practices of what has been done previously, we do not use government bodies.
"It is irresponsible for opposition political leaders who were being investigated to allege that there was interference from the government," he said in a press conference after chairing the Cabinet meeting at Putra Perdana here on Thursday.
Anwar said while performing his duties as the finance minister, he found several projects had excessively high expenditures without a tender process.
"I found that the costs of the JanaWibawa and flood control projects showed records of high costs," he said.
Anwar responded to Datuk Dr Marzuki Mohamad's call for PKR and DAP to reveal their accounts.
"There are no problems (revealing them), and the account will be delivered to the Registrar of Societies (RoS) according to the schedule set," he said.
He explained Bersatu leaders did not reveal the party accounts; rather, they were exposed by the investigation team.
"This meant the MACC received a report and investigated it," he said.
