PUTRAJAYA - Datuk Nik Nasarudin Mohd Zawawi has been appointed as the new Secretary-General of the Ministry of Education (MOE), effective today, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali announced.
Nik Nasarudin, 57, has been in the public service for 32 years, starting as a teacher or Education Service Officer on Jan 12, 1988, before joining the Administrative and Diplomatic Service Scheme on Dec 16, 1996.
In a statement today, Mohd Zuki said Nik Nasarudin has extensive experience in various fields including planning, implementation, monitoring of development projects as well as administration and human capital development.
"The holder of a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degrees in Economics from Universiti Malaya and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia respectively, gained that experience after serving in the Economic Planning Unit, the Implementation Coordination Unit, the Prime Minister's Department and the Pahang State Secretary’s Office.
"With his experience and credibility, I am confident that he will be able to carry out his responsibilities by continuing the MOE's mission to preserve a quality education system in developing individual potential to meet the aspirations of Malaysia Madani,” Mohd Zuki said. -BERNAMA
