SHAH ALAM - Veteran DAP leader Lim Kit Siang agrees with former deputy prime minister Tun Musa Hitam that it is time for action in Anwar Ibrahim-led unity government.

During a speech at a Chinese New Year event yesterday, Lim said ministers in the unity government must have a mindset that their tenure could end anytime, referring to Sheraton Move in 2020 during the Pakatan Harapan (PH) administration.

"The unity government ministers should have the mindset that their tenure may be terminated any time although they may want to serve for five years.

"They should implement their major proposals in the first six to 12 months," he said in a statement.

Commenting further, Lim added the current government must make the seven-week Parliament meeting that starts next month as a 'most memorable one' in Malaysian history by kickstarting institutional reforms.

"The next major test of the Anwar-led unity government will be the six state general elections in Penang, Kedah, Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Kelantan and Terengganu in the next few months.

"I have always been quite sceptical of the talk of an invincible "green wave” movement in the 15th General Election (GE15) but recent political developments seem to give Perikatan Nasional (PN) a new lease of life," he said.

Last Friday, Musa said a reset in politics and government on various issues faced by the country has passed and it is now time to take proactive action to solve them.

Musa futher doubted that the political situation was stable and predicted that the public at most will give the Anwar unity government three to six months.

"After that, they are not going to be polite with you," Musa said.
