SHAH ALAM - Datuk Mohd Nazifuddin Najib has announced his intention to contest for the Umno Youth Deputy Chief post in the upcoming party polls.
Nazifuddin who is also former Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s son said he would like to help the wing to attract more youths to help strengthen the party.
"As one of the members of the sports association, I feel it is an advantage for me to be together and bond with the youth and also encourage them to join us in our struggles.
"I also want to contribute in improving sport activities, unearthing new talents and skills, raising the level of the economy as well as conducting beneficial activities for the youth ," he said in a statement on Sunday.
Nazifuddin said he also realised that the biggest challenge he will face was to attract young people to support Umno.
."I am ready to face this issue, what matters is integrity and teamwork in everything, as a party member, this is definitely the main element that is the essence of my education," he said.
He added that if he was given the opportunity to hold the position, he would like to focus on the new youth voters who have just left school, so that they will be attracted to the party and help Umno win the next general elections.
