TUMPAT - A couple saw a windfall when they started selling a basket of the king of fruits for RM10. It was sold within an hour.
The vendor Shahmiazani Mohd Tanazi, 30, and his wife Shaidatul Fatini Shamsudin, 30, began to use the method last month.
"Customers would start to lining up from 8am, sometimes as far back to 200 metres line up,” he told Sinar.
The father of one said there were several other durian species such as mixed species sold at RM25 per basket while RM40 and RM50 for graded durians such as Musang King, D24/XO, Udang Merah, IOI dan Tekka.
"Our intentions are to share our fortunes with other individuals as not only locals buy form us. There are others who come from Gua Musang and Terengganu too,” he said.
He has been selling durians for 15 years and has sold durian RM10 durian per plastic during the pandemic in 2021.
"The cheaper durian prices were due to the festivities and it is garnering demand," he said, adding that prices of durian have fallen from from RM22 per kg from RM35 per kg for Musang King.
