PAPAR - Two siblings drowned while swimming in a tributary at Jalan Beringis-Kawang, Kinarut, yesterday.
The 12 and 13-year-old of SK Kawang were dead on arrival at Papar Hospital.
Papar District Police Chief Deputy Superintendent Kamaruddin Ambo Sakka said he received a call from the public at 3.05pm.
"Early investigations found both victims were with their mother and grandmother in search of mangrove clams. They swam to the tributary to look for clams.
"Both siblings were found drowned by their mother and grandmother and called out for help from those nearby,” he said in a statement, today.
He said both victims were found unconscious, adding there were no criminal elements involved and the case has been classified as sudden death.
