SHAH ALAM - Bisnes Sinar Harian Awards (BISA) is the top platform for entrepreneurial community, especially small and medium enterprise (SME) industry players to be more competitive and productive in expanding business.
Sinar Harian’s head of business unit Meor Shahrom Zainuddin said since the pandemic, the SME industry suffered in lack or no working capital and losses because of the Movement Control Order (MCO).
He said the SME sector largely provided job opportunities and generated income for the community while contributing to the country’s economic development.
"SMEs' contribution to the country at the moment was said to be below 40 per cent and it dropped to almost 10 per cent due to the pandemic.
"Through the launch of BISA, it is our hope to see the SME industry revival and continually grow in the future.
"It doesn't only recognise entrepreneurs but also held a more advanced mission in helping them to develop their business," he told Sinar.
Starting February 2023, BISA would become Sinar Harian’s annual event after more than 16 years of being Malaysians’ main choice of reference and media.
Meor Shahrom added, through BISA, SME entrepreneurs were open to opportunities to share views and ideas with other entrepreneurs to gain new knowledge and thrive.
"BISA can also be an intermediary body between the business community and the government or corporate bodies in forming policies, and moving together towards an increasingly challenging business world.
"Additionally, I welcome SME entrepreneurs to use various channels and segments in Sinar Harian to promote their business on both digital platforms like Facebook, Instagram and TikTok and Sinar Harian newspaper," he said.
He said Sinar Harian has a concrete platform in various mediums to help empower the entrepreneurial community.
"As the number one most trusted mainstream newspaper, we can provide comprehensive sharing to the readers and the business community through both traditional and conventional systems.
"We have also launched the tagline 'Sinar Harian Sokongan Bisnes Anda' (Sinar Harian supports your business) as recognition to the business industry," he added.
