KUALA LUMPUR - Umno can win the coming six state elections if the party focuses more on quality instead of quantity.
In his speech at the party's 2022 General Assembly, Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan reasoned that if the party does so, it will not be impossible for the party to capture Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Penang, Kedah, Terengganu and Kelantan.
"Umno has 3,425,893 members, 22,120 branches and 191 divisions. We have the numbers but the most important thing is quality, not quantity.
"We need to focus on quality for the coming six state elections,” said Ahmad Maslan at the World Trade Centre (WTC) Kuala Lumpur, here today.
In last year's 15th General Election (GE15) on November 19, Umno suffered its worst defeat at the national poll, winning only 26 parliamentary seats compared to the 54 that it won in GE14.
However, the party ultimately managed to form government with PH as GE15 ended in a hung parliament where not a single party had enough numbers to form government on their own.
