KUALA LUMPUR - Umno will continue to contest in the upcoming six state polls (PRN) under the Barisan Nasional (BN) banner despite being a part of the Pakatan Harapan-led (PH) government.
This was revealed by Umno Wanita chief, Datuk Noraini Ahmad, in her policy speech today at the 2022 Umno General Assembly (PAU) at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL).
Noraini said Umno president, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has decided to use the BN’s balance scale (dacing) logo for the upcoming state elections.
She said the party has not yet refined its strategy for the state elections and whatever discussions or plans that that have been discussed in the general assembly might not be able to be implemented fully.
"Whether the state elections will happen simultaneously in all six states or separately is still a puzzle, and whether we will be called in a few weeks or we would need to wait until May is also is still a question mark," she said.
Noraini added eventhough that was the case, all party members need to be ready and prepared for any situation.
"We should unite and accept the leadership’s decision when planning political strategies between parties and we must strive to be consistent in this fight.
