SHAH ALAM - The e-commerce platform Shopee has suspended the services of a food delivery rider following a viral clip of him throwing sexual remarks towards a woman.
The company released a statement on Tuesday informing disciplinary action was taken to avoid recurrence of such incidents.
"Any bad behaviour against our company’s values is unacceptable. We have taken immediate disciplinary action to prevent a repeat of such incidents, this includes his suspension,” it said.
The viral video on Monday displayed the rider hurling obscene remarks towards a woman while clad in the Shopee uniform.
The rider had challenged the women to report his actions to the police.
The victim’s boyfriend recorded the acts and uploaded it on social media.
Shopee said they were in the process of contacting the couple to apologise for the terrible experience.
"We would like to remind all staff regarding the code of conduct and the serious action that could be taken if they fail to comply with the standards we have set,” the Shopee statement explained.
