KUALA LUMPUR - PR1MA Corporation Malaysia will be giving RM900, 000 in aid to Kelantan and Terengganu
to help victims affected by the flood disaster.
Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan said PR1MA will send necessities which will include 1000 food starter kits, 1000 flood kits, 1000 queen size mattresses, 1000 ready to eat food packs 1000 sets of prayer wear and 1000 sets of school bags.
" We will also send cleaning equipment which includes 800 water jets, 800 mops, 800 brooms, 800 water repellents, 800 rubber pipes, 800 buckets, 800 gloves, 800 rubber shoes and 800 hose." he told reporters during the Flood Aid Convoy to Kelantan and Terengganu event here today,
He expressed his gratitude to PR1MA and hoped that other agencies in Malaysia will follow suit to lend a helping hand to the rakyat in the event of national disasters.
"I urge all agencies, Government-Linked Companies (GLCs), Government-Linked Investment Companies (GLICs) to continue their efforts in helping people affected by natural disasters or tragedies anywhere ,” he added.
Ahmad Maslan said even though the floods have subsided, the effects of the floods are still there, especially the aftermath where a lot of cleaning needs to be done.
He said although the flood relief shelters (PPS) are no longer there, he hoped that local leaders and state government agencies would coordinate the assistance given.
"Among the agencies involved is The National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA), so I hope this aid will be distributed fairly”, he said.
PR1MA chairman Dato’ Dr Fathul Bari Mat Jahya also accompanied Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan during the event.
