Hajiji remains chief minister, obtains support of 44 Sabah assemblymen

KOTA KINABALU - Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor confirms that he has received support from 44 Sabah state assemblymen

Hajiji who is also the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) chairman said the government, led by him is still in a strong state and he will continue to govern Sabah.

"We have the support of a majority of 44 assemblymen. This means that the existing government which I lead is still intact and strong will continue to govern the state of Sabah.

"I have received support from people's representatives here including those from Pakatan Harapan, Umno-Barisan Nasional (BN) ansd GRS," he told reporters after his meeting with GRS, Sabah PH and Sabah BN assemblymen at the official residence of Chief Minister in Sri Gaya on Sunday.

Asked on the Statutory Declaration (SD) letter, the GRS chairman stated that it had been sent to the Yang Dipertua Negeri Sabah Tun Juhar Mahirudin at Istana Seri Kinabalu on Saturday.

"We already handed it (SD) yesterday during the meeting with the Yang Dipertua," he added

Hajiji also said the Cabinet reshuffle will happen soon, when asked.

"God willing, we will reshuffle the Cabinet in the near future," he said.

Political turmoil in Sabah started when Sabah UMNO liaison committee chairman Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin announced that Sabah Umno-BN withdrew their support for Hajiji as Sabah Chief Minister last Friday.

Earlier today, Hajiji held a meeting with GRS assemblymen, seven Sabah PH assemblymen and five Sabah BN assemblymen and the meeting lasted for over an hour at the official residence in Sri Gaya.

Among those who were seen present at the Sri Gaya grounds were Tanjung Keramat assemblyman, Datuk Ir Shahelmey Yahya; Kiulu assemblyman, Datuk Joniston Bangkuai; Tambunan Assemblyman, Datuk Dr Jeffrey Gapari Kitingan; Appointed assymblyman, Dr Aliakbar Gulasan; Datuk Seri Yong Teck Lee; Api-API assemblyman, Datuk Christina Lew and Kadamaian assemblyman, Datuk Ewon Benedick.
