KOTA BHARU - A slithery surprise shocked a man in Pengkalan Chepa who found a 70-kilogramme (kg) pyhton coiled up on a branch of a durian tree near his house, here, on Wednesday.
The Kota Bharu District Civil Defense Force (APM) captain, Md Fadir Md Nor said the emergency call was received at 7.11am from a man named Tan.
"When we arrived on the scene, we found a python coiled up around a tree branch at a height of six metres.
"The officer-in-charge had climbed up the tree and severed the branch with the reptile to bring it down," he said when contacted by Sinar Harian.
He added that officers took about 10 minutes to capture the three-metre-long snake
The batik python (reticulated python) was handed over to the Wildlife Protection and National Parks Department (Perhilitan), Md Fadir said.
