SHAH ALAM - Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) final year public relations students under the Nescafé Youth Entrepreneurship Programme (NYEP) has organised an open day to empower youth entrepreneurs while advocating for sustainable development in the country.
The programme called "Déja-Brew" was in line with the eighth and 11th Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) on Decent Work and Economic Growth as well as Sustainable Cities and Communities introduced by the United Nations.
Held at the UiTM Shah Alam Main Campus, the programme was one of five NYEP hubs sponsored by Nestlé giving an opportunity to the university's School of Communication and Media by the Malaysian Academy of SME & Entrepreneurship Development (MASMED) to run the programme for this semester.
Since its Golden Jubilee celebration recently, the School of Communication and Media’s efforts in supporting the empowerment of youth entrepreneurs with strong implementations of sustainability elements were in line with Nestlé’s initial goal of the programme as well as UiTM’s goal in becoming a Globally Renowned University by 2025.
The event also demonstrated the versatility of UiTM's aspiring public relations future practitioners in planning events and running campaigns while pursuing their entrepreneurial dreams.
Its project leader Daniel Mohammed said the public relations sector was not popularised locally, but it was actually an exceptional tool in businesses.
