SHAH ALAM - Communications and Digital Ministry is monitoring the acquisition of Kuala Lumpur Tower’s management by a company from Telekom Malaysia.
Its minister Fahmi Fadzil said the issue was being taken seriously and his ministry monitored the issue closely and was prepared to give full cooperation for any investigations.
"I received a detailed briefing on the concession of KL Tower’s management by the Communications and Digital Ministry on December 14,” he said.
Fahmi added that he would be given another briefing on the matter by Telekom Malaysia (TM) on January 3.
"I have been made to understand that the concession of KL Tower’s management is currently in a third interim period until December 31, 2022 by Kuala Lumpur Tower Sdn Bhd (MKLSB),” he said.
KL Tower’s management would be taken over from TM through a subsidiary via full shareholding.
The matter went viral on social media when allegations were raised by Twitter user @FreeMsian who questioned the tower’s ownership which he claimed had been transferred to an unknown company prior to the recent 15th general elections (GE15).
The user also tagged Fahmi in the thread and alleged that the company was a proxy for a former minister.
