SHAH ALAM - Outdoor enthusiasts are advised to postpone hiking or camping activities in risky areas for the monsoon season.
Tourism Selangor in a statement said such activities, if not avoided, could lead to them being lost in the woods, trapped in a landslide or floods.
"Without knowledge of the area and sufficient information on the monsoon season, tourists could be exposed to the risks," the statement read.
Tourism Selangor also asked for all parties to take note of the Batang Kali landslide tragedy and take precautionary measures in planning their vacation.
"Parents are urged to remind their children to steer away from such areas," it said.
Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) predicted the Northeast Monsoon that hit the country from the middle of November to March next year could cause floods in low areas, rivers and waterfalls.
