KUALA LUMPUR - Malaysians have been reminded to always respect and appreciate cultural diversity and religious differences as a uniqueness that is the basis for the people’s well-being and the country’s prosperity.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said Malaysia is a very special country with its people living in peace and harmony in cultural diversity and religious differences.
"Make this Christmas celebration a basis for strengthening commitment and unity among us. Avoid any conflict, and bolster unity and understanding.
"Continue the practice of mutual respect for the festivals of other races as well as the tradition of visiting during this festive season, as a unique and harmonious identity of Malaysian society,” he said in a post on his Facebook today, in conjunction with the Christmas celebration tomorrow.
In addition to celebrating Christmas with joy, Fadillah also reminded Malaysians not to forget their relatives and friends who were affected by disasters such as floods and so on.
"May all assistance provided to the victims be facilitated and may we all always be under the protection of the Almighty,” he said.
He also advised those returning to their hometowns in conjunction with the Christmas celebration and year-end holidays to always be careful when driving and obey the rules set and arrive safely at their respective destinations. - BERNAMA
