SHAH ALAM - Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar apologised today for not being there while the state and its people were suffering from floods.
" I understand that whatever I say now it will not mean anything, but I will still like to apologise.
" However, I just want to put it on record that I was monitoring the flood situation, and I decided to travel overseas when there were signs of the floods receding," he said at a press conference in Kemaman shortly after returning from New Zealand.
He added that the flood situation worsened while he was already abroad, but he continued to monitor and follow the situation closely.
" I would also like to apologise to the people of Terengganu if there are any weaknesses on my part and on the state governments part in how we have managed and handled the flood situation so far," he said
The Terengganu MB was critised for not being on the ground as parts of the state were flooding, instead he and his family travelled to Auckland.
The floods on Terengganu washed out ten thousands home and forced the residents to seek shelter in temporary relief centres in eight districts which is Kemaman, Besut, Dungun, Hulu Terengganu, Setiu, Kuala Nerus, Kuala Terengganu and Marang.
