Landslide: No positive sign of last victim’s location

BATANG KALI - There has been no positive signs after an eight hour search for the last landslide victim reported to be a boy.

The search and rescue (SAR) operation which started at 8am today is expected to run until late night depending on weather conditions.

A survey by Sinar Harian at the location of the landslide found that the weather at the location of the operation was clear. However, rain clouds could be seen at around 4.15pm.

It is understood that the search scope for the SAR operation had been narrowed down to only a few sectors where the location of the last victim is believed to be.

Two excavators were also seen leaving the site a few hours after the SAR operation was carried out.

On Thursday, Sinar Harian reported that the number of victims was officially at 92 people from the original estimated number of 94 individuals.

Before that, the police estimated that a total of 94 victims were involved in the landslide tragedy based on this information obtained from the campsite management.

The updated tally means that only one victim of the landslide tragedy has yet to be found by the SAR team so far.

On Thursday a total of four bodies consisting of one adult male, one adult female and two children each male and female were found at 11.04am in sector C (riverside).
