Landslide: Four more bodies found in a tent, death toll rises to 30

SHAH ALAM - The bodies of four more victims have been found at the landslide tragedy at the Father’s Organic Farm campsite in Gohtong Jaya.

Hulu Selangor police chief Superintendent Suffian Abdullah said the four victims were found in a tent which was buried about seven-metre deep.

"The bodies were of a girl, a boy, a woman and a man and they were found at Sector C or in the Riverside area.

"During the extrication of the victim, the Fire and Rescue Department found them in one tent and they were taken out of the area.

"The bodies are still intact, but the victims' identities have yet to be ascertained," he said during a press conference today.

The discovery of the four victims brought the total death toll of the tragedy to 30.

The Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said the search and rescue (SAR) operation today used 11 excavators and seven dogs from the Canine tracker dog unit (K9).

"We got the lead at about 10.40am which showed there were traces of camping site and found the four bodies," he said.

It could not be confirmed if the four victims were of the same family as their identities have yet to be ascertained.

Post-mortem would be conducted at Sungai Buloh hospital

The SAR operation at the site of the landslide tragedy entered its seventh day today and would continue until the remaining victims were found.

The landslide tragedy that struck at 2.42 am last Friday (Dec 16), had so far claimed 30 lives with three victims still missing and 61 survivors.
