PETALING JAYA - South Korean model and actor Lee Jae Wook has been named as the Korea Tourism Organisation (KTO) Honorary Ambassador.
Hot on the heels of his appointment as the ambassador, the Alchemy of Souls star made his way to our shores to meet with Malaysian fans.
At the press conference, he gushed with excitement having been entrusted with the role, in addition to traveling since the Covid-19 pandemic upended our lives.
"I was disappointed that I couldn’t travel due to Covid-19 but now as travels have resumed, I’d love to visit places that I haven’t been before.
"Also, I was tremendously happy to be appointed as the Honorary Ambassador for KTO and heard that Alchemy of Soul is quite popular in Malaysia,” he said before adding how excited he was to be meeting fans.
The history-fantasy drama aired on Netflix this year and was met with great response from K-Drama lovers.
While the meet and greet session only kicked off at 7.30pm at Petaling Jaya Performing Arts Centre (PJPAC), fans had already begun waiting mid-day.
Korea Tourism Organisation Managing Director Yang Kyung Soo shared his excitement in working together with the actor.
"Together with Lee Jae Wook, we are excited to present South Korea’s unique and attractive experiences through a series of videos on social media channels and at the in-person meet and greet session.
"With his appointment, we hope to further elevate Korea as the top travel destination for Malaysians and create more opportunities for Malaysians to discover Korea with Lee Jae Wook,” he said.
Lee Jae Wook debuted through his first drama "Memories of Alhambra” starring fellow senior actors Hyun Bin and Park Shin Hye in 2018 before on the rise with Alchemy if Soul as the male lead.
